Bio
Gastón Nicolás Artigas is a composer, music producer and multi-instrumentalist born in Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina, and based in Mexico City. His work combines composition, performance, direction and arrangements, exploring multiple styles and aesthetics.
In contemporary dance, he has composed for projects such as Senderos del Cosmos (dir. Agustina Suárez Adrover, developed with support from the Iberescena fund, 2023), Humedal (developed with support from the Iberescena fund, 2022) and Forward (choreography by Sarah Matry-Guerre, premiered at the Sala Miguel Covarrubias, UNAM, 2022).
His music for audiovisual media includes projects such as the installation Le Lapin dans la Lune, presented at the Fête des Lumières festival, Lyon (2021), and Here for the Event?, a short film premiered at the Big Apple Film Festival, New York (2025).
Among his recording credits, his collaboration as a saxophonist on the song "Vida Normal" from Mon Laferte's album Femme Fatale stands out.
As an instrumentalist, he has collaborated with Mariana Cincunegui, Daniel "Tatita" Márquez and Santiago Vásquez (with the latter as a fellow in "Cruce y Conexión", a project of the Bienal Arte Joven Buenos Aires 2017). He currently directs and arranges for Calacas Jazz Band and Enguayabá Orquesta. Throughout his career he has performed at venues such as Eurojazz, Teatro Esperanza Iris, the Lunario del Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, and La Ballena Azul in Buenos Aires.
Drawing from multiple influences and driven by creative curiosity, his work combines jazz, Latin American folk, hip‑hop, rock and classical music to accompany and enhance projects of any nature.
